The Career Center is following the PA Department of Health guidelines regarding isolation for positive COVID-19 cases and quarantines for close contacts or symptomatic persons. These guidelines are listed below:
Symptomatic Student or Staff Member
The person is sent home with the recommendation to contact their healthcare provider for evaluation and/or COVID-19 testing.
Positive COVID-19 Case:
Isolate for five days. The person may return to school on day six IF their symptoms are resolved or improving and the person was without a fever for 24 hours without the use of fever reducing medications.
Close Contact Without COVID-19 Symptoms:
Vaccinated Person or COVID + in the last 90 days (PCR/Viral Test) - No quarantine is necessary, but is to mask for ten days from the date of contact.
Unvaccinated Person - Quarantine for five days from the last date of contact; then may return to school and mask for the next five days.
Household Contact without COVID-19 Symptoms
Vaccinated Person or COVID + in the last 90 days (PCR/Viral Test) - No quarantine, but is to mask for ten days from the last date of contact. Recommended to test on day 5-7 after the last date of contact.
**A negative test does not end masking.
Unvaccinated Person - Five days of quarantine during the positive case's isolation, five days of additional quarantine, then may return to school and mask for five days. (total of 10 days of quarantine and 5 of masking at school) . Recommended to test 5-7 days after the positive case's isolation ends.
**A negative test does not end masking.
**If the positive household member is able to "fully isolate at home", the household contact will quarantine for five days from the last date of contact then return to school and mask for five days.
**Fully isolating means not sharing any common area i.e.: bathroom, living room, kitchen. This means if the positive person uses these areas, even if no one else is in the area at the same time, this is not considered "fully isolating" at home.
